If you’re getting ready to sell your home, which updates will actually help you maximize its value? Here are a few ideas:
1. Remodeling the kitchen and bathroom. This doesn’t need to be a full tear-out—you’d be really surprised at what a few coats of paint and new countertops will do to the appearance of your kitchen and bathrooms.
2. Finishing your basement. You’ll need to be careful here; value is not calculated the same downstairs as it is on the main level, even if you use high-end finishes. Set a budget and stick to it.
3. Changing paint colors and removing wallpaper. This is a fairly simple project that can be done quickly and really change the dated feel of some older homes.
4. Landscaping. Fresh flowers, shrubs, and mulch can make your home stand out and increase your curb appeal, which could result in multiple offers when you do decide to sell it.
